Rep. Lee Terry, R-Neb., today is launching his first TV ad of the general election season.
In the 30-second spot, Terry calls for more oil drilling and exploration, greater use of renewable energy sources and incentives for conservation.
Terry also points out that he was involved in bipartisan energy legislation "to lower the price of gas and make America energy independent." A bill passed last year raises fuel economy standards for cars and light trucks and requires greater production of renewable fuels, such as ethanol.
His 2nd District opponent, Democrat Jim Esch, advocates a number of tax credits and incentives to persuade consumers, auto dealers and others to conserve energy.
He also has said repeatedly that all options, including more domestic drilling, should be on the table. But he isn't sure that drilling will ease America's energy crunch in the near future.
