Former Democratic congressional candidate Richard Carter has joined the re-election campaign of Republican Lee Terry, who’s seeking re-election.
Terry’s campaign says Carter will be a senior adviser focusing on economic issues and outreach to veterans, Democrats and senior citizens.
He’ll also head up a “truth squad” to respond to any false or misleading attacks from Terry’s Democratic rival, Jim Esch.
Esch beat Carter in the May primary to face Terry in the fall. Esch also ran in 2006 and lost to Terry. Terry is seeking his sixth House term.
At Saturday’s state GOP convention, Carter endorsed Terry. Carter said at the time that he’s still a Democrat and won’t necessarily endorse other Republicans.
