Former Democratic House candidate Richard Carter is endorsing Republican incumbent Lee Terry in the 2nd District race.
The move by Carter bypasses Democratic nominee Jim Esch, who defeated Carter in the May primary. Esch ran in 2006 and lost to Terry.
Carter says he agrees with Terry on many topics, including energy and economic issues.
Carter says Terry wants to cut taxes and reduce spending, while Esch wants to raise taxes and spend more.
Carter is in the Air Force Reserve and an economics instructor.
He was to speak at the Nebraska Republicans' state convention on Saturday. Carter says he's still a Democrat and won't necessarily endorse other Republicans.
