Lee
Terry believes education secures the future success
of children from every economic and social background
in all walks of life. States, local school districts,
teachers and parents know best how to meet the
individual needs of children. During his service
as your Representative, Lee Terry has voted to:
- provide states with greater flexibility and
control over federal education dollars
- ensure 95 percent of federal education dollars
go to the classroom
- increase the annual contribution limit for
Education Savings Accounts to $2,000
- boost federal education funding by $6.9 billion
over the past three years
- allow college students to reconsolidate their
student loans more than once
Congressman
Terry also voted for the No Child Left Behind
Act to link federal education funds to school
performance for the first time in our nation’s
history. While improvements should be made to
ease the regulatory burden on schools, this legislation’s
goals of accountability must not be compromised.
Lee Terry is determined to ensure that children
learn the skills they need to succeed in school
and life. Lee Terry’s efforts were recently
recognized as he was awarded the “Champion
for Children” Award for his work in supporting
funds for school districts.
